Our Spinach Salad Recipe: A Love Letter - 8 Day Jumpstart Approved

xyngular Spinach Salad Recipe.jpg

Dear Spinach,

I’m sorry that I said you were gross when I was a kid. I blame it on my then-undeveloped prefrontal cortex...or maybe the fact that you were green and that scared me for some other mystifying 6-year-old reasoning. Even though you benefited Popeye so clearly, I doubted you. And I realize now how foolish that was.

I’ve done my research and I realize that you are a wonder of all wonders! Full of nutrients and fat-burning qualities, freshness, and perfectly mild flavor, I admit that I now eat you almost daily! On your own, in my new favorite spinach salad recipe (see below!!), blended into smoothies—your delicious possibilities are endless.

Thank you for sticking around and just being you, regardless of my foolish accusations and uneducated fears.

Forevermore your unwavering advocate,

Most Humans Who’ve Ever Lived

What Are The Health Benefits Of Spinach?

Which health benefit doesn’t spinach have?? Spinach is considered a superfood for a reason...rather, many, many reasons—like these:

  • Spinach is largely made up of water which can help with a little hydration boost.
  • Thylakoid, which is found in spinach, can reduce your appetite making it a good option for weight control or weight loss.
  • Spinach contains calcium, manganese, and vitamin K which are great for bone health and preventing osteoporosis.
  • Iron is another important mineral found in spinach, which is vital to normal bodily functions like carrying oxygen and blood throughout the body.
  • The vitamin E and magnesium found in spinach are awesome for immune support so you can fight off bad bacteria or viruses.
  • Folate is essential for healthy cell development, making spinach a perfect ingredient for anyone, but especially pregnant women.
  • Spinach provides plenty of phytonutrients to support optimal vision health like carotenoids and vitamin A.
  • Antioxidants are the key to fighting free radicals and helping prevent the growth of unhealthy cells that can cause chronic illnesses or cancer, and spinach is full of them.
  • Spinach contains inorganic nitrate that can lower blood pressure and help prevent your arteries from stiffening.
  • The anti-inflammatory qualities in spinach are great for reducing pain, easing discomfort from chronic issues, and even speeding up weight loss. (See more on that below!)
  • Vitamin C and iron in spinach combine to speed up and improve the injury healing process.

Spinach is clearly replete with nutrients and health-boosting qualities, which makes adding this spinach salad recipe to your diet a great health choice, especially if you’re trying to fire up weight loss with the 8 Day Jumpstart.

Is Spinach Salad Good For Weight Loss?

Because spinach is a low-calorie, nutrient-dense food, it can be great for weight loss. Many of the health benefits we just discussed work in tandem to improve overall health and decrease common life stressors, which all lead to increased well being and, often, healthy weight loss.

When used as the foundation for a salad, spinach becomes the springboard for the consumption of other healthy ingredients, like the ones found in our spinach salad recipe. Packed with eggs, broccoli, cauliflower, cucumber, and almonds, our healthy spinach salad recipe feels light while filling you up with a delicious and satisfying meal and steering you away from other, more carb- or fat-heavy foods like sandwiches, pastas, and pizza.

In short, our spinach salad recipe is great for weight loss. Which is also why it is an important part of the 8-Day Jumpstart approved menu!

Does Spinach Burn Belly Fat?

Belly fat is the bane of many health-conscious people’s existence. And not just because they don’t like how it looks. Belly fat is especially detrimental to our health, with many studies pointing to it as a risk factor for developing Type II Diabetes, heart disease, and other serious health issues.

So does eating spinach help burn belly fat? Yes, and here is why.

  • Spinach helps reduce inflammation. Some experts say that heightened or long-term inflammation can prevent healthy weight loss, increase insulin resistance, and stifle leptin production—a hormone that controls appetite and helps regulate metabolism.
  • The water and fiber content in spinach help with digestion and feelings of fullness, reducing snacking and the urge to splurge on less healthy foods which can also reduce belly fat.
  • The thylakoids in spinach have been found to suppress appetite and even decrease a person’s taste for fat and sugar, which is a big belly fat producer.

Adding spinach in any form to your diet—including in this love letter of a spinach salad recipe—is going to add nutritional value and likely help guide you toward your overall health goals, including losing weight the healthy way.
